After visiting Yamagata, where she discovered the work of Ogawa Productions and met Shinsuke Ogawa's widow, Shiraishi Yoko, Barbara Hammer decided to make a film about the complex and hierarchical relationships that had developed between the members of the collective. The result of Hammer's arduous undertaking offers a sometimes painful and at times bittersweet insight into the dynamics of Ogawa Productions.
