El film el mafkoud (The Lost Film)

In May 2000, Hadjithomas and Joreige learned that a copy of their first feature film, Around The Pink House from 1999, presented in Yemen as part of a nomadic festival, had been lost. They went in search of it hoping to return to Yemen to complete the investigation, yet 9/11 blocked their project. The Lost Film, a film essay, will be realised with the precious images of locations, and was created in the editing room, integrating narrative absences in doing so. The film challenges the representation of the image as well as the filmmakers’ artist status – in this part of the world.
