Charles Burnett retrospective
At the end of the sixties, at a time of a raging war in Vietnam, a growing civil rights movement, and riots in L.A., some African American students at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television particpated in a ‘Ethno-Communications’ project. They created a unique and urgent cinematographic landscape that has continued to inspire new generations.
On the 2nd and 3rd of April Courtisane presents, in collaboration with Tate Film and UCLA Film & Television Archive, at the yearly festival some of the films of this L.A. Rebellion generation of filmmakers. On this occasion CINEMATEK presents some films of key figure Charles Burnett.
