Brocka's meest geprezen film. Hij injecteerde de populaire Filippino-film vol sex, sentiment en geweld met een flinke dosis sociaal bewustzijn. Een jongen van het platteland zoekt in de stad zijn verloofde en komt in de prostitutie terecht.
Restored in 2013 by the Film Foundation (World Cinema Project) and the Film Development Council of the Philippines at Cineteca di Bologna / L’Immagine Ritrovata laboratory, in association with LVN, Cinema Artists Philippines and Mike de Leon.
